Pottery Wheel Throwing Workshops
Learn the basics of wheel throwing
Join us for a 1½ hour pottery class where you’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just want to refresh your skills, this session is a fun and relaxed introduction to pottery.
What's Included:
- Clay & Tools Provided: We supply all the materials you need, including high-quality clay, tools, and aprons. Its a messy business, but don’t worry about your clothes getting dirty – clay washes out easily!
- Introduction to Wheel Throwing: You’ll receive step-by-step guidance from an expert instructor on the basics of wheel throwing. Learn how to center your clay, open it up, and shape it into bowls, cups, or small vases. You’ll have your own dedicated pottery wheel to work on throughout the session.
- Small Group Setting: We keep our classes small with a maximum of 10 participants, ensuring you get plenty of one-on-one attention from our experienced instructor. This makes for a fun and relaxed atmosphere where you can work at your own pace and get personalized tips.
We run 7 classes per week across 4 days.
Age: 8+ years (Recommended for children 8 and older due to fine motor skills required)
Post-Class Options:
- Recycle your pieces: At this stage this is a fully recyclable process, you can choose to recycle your creations so the clay can be re-used for future classes. Don’t forget to take a photo!
- Take Home your Pottery: Choose your favourite piece to take home wet and let it air-dry. Once dried it will be fragile though. Cost £1.50

Fired & Glazed Option: For just £12.50, you can have one of your creations fired and glazed to make it durable and ready for use. If you’re unable to pick it up from the studio, we’ll carefully package and post it to you for just £5 per piece.
Please note, this process takes up to 4 weeks to complete.

Frequently Asked Questions:
what happens if i'm unable to attend the course?
If you need to cancel a more than 14 days before the class, we’ll happily give you a full refund, minus the booking fee. If it’s between 14 and 7 days before the class, you’ll receive a 50% refund, minus the booking fee. Unfortunately, if you cancel within 7 days of the class, we’re unable to offer a refund.
If you need to transfer your booking to someone else, no problem! You can do that at no extra charge as long as you let us know before the class starts. If you’re unable to attend, please note that the full fee is still required, and we’re unable to offer refunds or transfers for missed classes. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
do you have parking on site?
can i have my creation delivered internationally?
There is the opportunity to have you’re your work delivered internationally. Please just asked when in class and we can give you a quote.
i dont want to be rubbish, do you have a tutorials i can watch in advance?
It’s totally normal to feel a bit unsure when starting something new—everyone does! The learning curve is where the fun happens, and you’ll get better with time. Plus, everyone else is in the same boat, so you’re not alone. Just enjoy the process! Wobbly pots are part of the fun, and to be honest most beginners will not make perfect pots their first time. Love the wobble!
Every pottery teacher has a slightly different technique but you are welcome to have a look at the numerous YouTube tutorials available for ‘Beginners guide to throwing pottery on a wheel’.
Can i attend this course multiple times?
Yes of course! Its encouraged that you just keep going with the love of learning a new skill. All classes are tailored to the skill levels of all students. You are able to follow your own artistic journey if you have already mastered the basics.
are there toilet facilities available?
Yes, there are toilet facilities available on-site. However, they are situated down a flight of steep steps, making them more difficult for individuals with mobility impairments.
